About Gift of Hope

Robyn Clune

I grew up in Sydney and trained as a physical education teacher with the Australian College of Physical Education. I have taught for more than 20 years in Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore and more recently in Cambodia.

Whilst living in Asia 10 years ago I became aware of the dire poverty endured by many children and families in the region. My volunteering with local orphanages led me to establish Gift of Hope inc, to provide much needed funds directly to projects needing support beyond the larger NGO’s. Through Gift of Hope we fund programs providing much needed safe haven, health care and education for children who do not have access to these essentials.

Peta Drake

I was born in Perth Australia where I had the privilege of a comfortable and secure childhood.  I studied law at UWA and moved to Sydney in 1981; 10 years later I was living in London with my husband and 3 children.

A stint in Singapore in the late 90s gave me opportunities to travel widely in Asia.  I fell in love with Vietnam and developed a home textiles business, now Sydney based from which we now sell the top international brands of bed and table linen alongside our home brand, which has been handmade in Vietnam since 1998.

As my children have become older and more independent I have found a little time to fulfil a long held wish to contribute something to the less privileged communities in our world.  Education is the key to moving beyond the poverty trap.

Through Gift of Hope I hope to enrich the lives of less privileged children in the same way that our children assume as their right.
