Cambodian Children’s Fund

For six years Cambodian Children's Fund has provided life-changing education, nourishment and healing to vulnerable children from some of Cambodia's most destitute communities. Established 6 years ago by former film executive Scott Neesom, who traveled to Cambodia on holiday in early 2003 and found his life changed by the desperate circumstances and unlikely courage of Phnom Penh's most impoverished children. Today he serves as CCF’s Executive Director, performing daily fieldwork and overseeing the operations of CCF's five centers.

Scott reports “In the beginning our world revolved around the health and well-being of 45 youngsters. Today we care for more than 700 children, and we have extended our services to provide for their families and communities in crisis”.

Opportunity Cambodia

Opportunity Cambodia's mission is to develop and financially assist community based projects in rural Cambodia which will improve quality of life and provide opportunity through education and training for very poor rural children who would not otherwise receive an education.

We are focusing our efforts in Siem Reap Province, the second poorest province in Cambodia, where some 70% of the population have not completed primary education. We are working closely with the local community in response to their needs. Our Children’s Education Centre is located in a rented village house some 80 km from Siem Reap City.  It provides boarding facilities for children from communities where there is no school, and for others from seriously deprived families who are simply too poor to pay for school attendance and materials.  The children attend the local school and the Centre’s program provides them with nutritious food, healthcare, school materials and extra teaching including English, and creative and cultural activities.  The children are assisted to return to their communities on weekends and holidays.

Gift of Hope has committed to fund the cost of building our own facility on land in the heart of the village. This will enable us to accept more children and to provide better facilities for the children and a community centre for the village so as to offer a program of activities for village women and children, including a library, Khmer & English literacy, basic health and hygiene and vocational training.
